This weekend we were supposed to go to the Grand Canyon but a part for our campers heater did not arrive in time so we decided to take the time to go visit our friends (Becky and Tony) cabin in Prescott. It was really nice to get out of the desert and see some fall colors. We spent lots of time hiking, biking, and listening to Caitlyn bang on a piano in the cabin.

Melissas 30th Birthday Napoleon Dynamite Party in San Diego
Tonight we just got back from a visit to Melissa in San Diego. It was her big 30th birthday party so her friends decided to throw her a Napoleon Dynamite themed party after her favorite movie. When I heard this I thought it would be cool assuming that we would probably just watch Napoleon Dynamite at a normal party. What I didn't realize is that it not only included watching the movie but recreating the entire movie within the party. Everybody came to the party dressed up as a character and then went through a series of activities including making key chain rings, eating tator tots, performing in a talent show, competing in a football throw, competing in a taste contest, and taking glamor photos. It was nuts.
Schnepf Farms Pumpkin and Chili Festival
This past week we made our annual trip to the pumpkin and chili festival at Schnepf Farms. This year was a bit different then last year because Caitlyn has now learned what rides are and that she must go on them. However she has not learned that she has to wait in line and can't go on all of the rides due to height restrictions. She also said the word "Coke" for the first time while pointing to a Coke machine (this is not good).

Kim and James Wedding
This weekend, Molly's brother, James was married to Kim. The wedding was held at the Trilogy at Power Ranch country club near Molly's parents house. The weather was great, the food was great, and the dancing was.... well it was dancing so Molly and Caitlyn liked it... but the food was great. Now we just need to convince them to buy a house, have a kid, and create a family blog website.
September Rim Camping
In September we managed to head up to the Rim and camp for 3 days with some of our friends. It was a nice trip and a perfect temperature outside during the day. Unfortunately the heater in our camper broke so I was forced to drive through the forest alone late at night to buy one at the store. This normally doesn't bother me but having recently watched the movie "Fire in the Sky" I was a bit creeped out so I made sure that I kept the speed high enough to finish off any aliens that may jump out in front of the car but slow enough as to not loose control of the vehicle and hit the mother ship.

Hilton Head Island - South Carolina
In August we had a chance to fly out and visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins in Hilton Head. It was the fist time Caitlyn got to play in the ocean. I was told that there are a lot of alligators in the area including the lagoon behind my aunt and uncles house. I searched long and hard for alligators but found none. Later in the trip I was also told that there was a dog named Jake who was swept into the ocean with a fisherman. He supposedly rescued the fisherman by swimming 3 days and 3 nights back to the village on Hilton Head Island where then named a restaurant after him. Anyhow after hearing this I have begun to realize the people of Hilton Head are nuts.... making up stories of super dogs and alligators.

Camping Trip to Yellowstone
This summer we took an exciting trip to Yellowstone National Park with Molly's parents. We camped for 6 days at Bridge Bay Campground right in the center of the park and had buffalo and elk walk through our camp ground each evening. The camp ground was also in the heart of bear country but I slept well knowing that I could run faster than most of our family members. I managed to take a couple of pictures on this trip so if you have a few days please enjoy looking at them.
Fishing the Green River in Utah
This summer we had the opportunity to go camping and fishing for five beautiful days up in Northern Utah along the Green River with some friends of ours. Although it wasn't one of my most productive trips in recent years (in terms of fish caught), I spent many joyful hours watching the water flow gracefully over the rocks with hundreds of fish avoiding my lure like a poo on the sidewalk. Fortunately my luck picked up and on the last day I caught one of the largest trout in the river and definitely a record for our group. Unfortunately it was very dark so I don't have any pictures and couldn't actually see the fish very well to measure or weigh the fish. But I new it was a monster by the way it flipped its tail.
Karen Runs the 2007 Boston Marathon
In April my sister Karen decided to run the Boston Marathon in a strong Nor'easter that hammered most of the north eastern US. Despite the fact that she did not come in first place we are very proud of her. However, we will make it very clear that we do expect first place and if she so much as thinks she will run it again and do anything less well than we will have to disown her and take back all the kitchen utensil's that we have given her over the years.
