This Halloween Caitlyn was Supergirl. She originally wanted to be Mickey Mouse but I think once she saw the cape she changed her mind. She enjoyed putting on the costume and showing us how fast she could run and how much she could lift. Carter was a dinosaur (he really didn't have much say in the matter). Unfortunately I was called out on a trip before trick-or-treating so I'm not sure how that went but there seemed to be lots of candy when I got home so it must of went pretty well.

Disneyland
This October we decided to take Caitlyn to Disneyland for her first visit. At first she wasn't sure if she wanted to go or not so I told her why she should be so excited to go. Unfortunately this was in August and we had to go the next two months with her constantly begging to go immediately. Fortunately the trip was great. The park wasn't too busy so we didn't have to wait too long in lines and the weather was great. We stayed at the Paradise Pier hotel which is on the property so we could walk in or take the monorail into the park each day.

Zion National Park
Last weekend a couple of long time friends from college and I decided to take a trip and do some serious hiking. Originally we had planned on visiting some slot canyons in NE Arizona but discovered a guide was required. Then we had planned Havasupai falls but there were no spots available for the days we wanted to hike down. So we turned to Utah and decided to hike around Zion National Park. On the first and last days we did a number of easy hikes along the main corridor that runs through the park. The middle day we went on a 14.5 mile trip to visit the Kolob Arch. It was nice to get out of the more crowded areas of the park and back into areas not easily seen.

Durango Colorado Trip
Last week we set off on our annual fishing / camping trip with some long time friends. Each year we pick a different spot alternating between in state and out of state. This year was out of state and we chose a location about 15 miles north of Durango Colorado. It was my first visit to this area and we will definitely be going back. We had excellent weather and did lots of fishing, biking, and kayaking. Caitlyn reeled in her first fish which was exciting but not nearly as exciting as throwing pine cones in the lake.

August Camping Trip
Last weekend we ceased another opportunity to get out of the brutal Arizona summer heat and hang out in the mountains. We went back to a place we had camped earlier in the summer by Woods Canyon Lake. This time the weather cooperated with and we spent the days hanging around camp and catching crayfish at the lake.
San Diego
A couple of weeks ago we decided to head to San Diego with some friends of ours to get out of the heat. While we were there we visited Lego Land and spent a couple of evenings at the beach.

East Clear Creek
This past weekend Caitlyn and I joined some long time college friends on the rim for some camping. During our stay we all hiked down to East Clear Creek to cool off in the water.

Carter on the Couch
I haven't found many excuses to take pictures of Carter lately but he is getting big so I put him on the couch to take some updated pictures of him. Its becoming easier now that he watches what I am doing. Caitlyn however is becoming more difficult to take pictures as she intentionally looks the other direction when I try and take pictures of her so I have to catch her off guard.
Camping at Tonto Creek
A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a family camping trip to Tonto Creek. The weather finally cooperated for us on this trip.

Caitlyns First Dance Recital
Last thursday Caitlyn had her first dance recital at the Queen Creek Town Hall. She has been taking dance classes through the city for about a year and their teacher put together a 15 minute show. It was quite amusing to watch. After the show she seemed to be quite happy that she didn't fall off of the edge of the stage. I'm not exactly sure why this seemed to be a big deal but I have a feeling her teacher probably warned them a few times before the show.
Memorial Day Camping
This Memorial Day we went up to an area west of Woods Canyon Lake and camped for 5 days. It was a great trip but rained quite a bit. Fortunately the camper and a Dairy Queen 15 miles up the road gave us a place to hang out while we waited out the rain.

Baby Carter Has Arrived
On Friday around 3 PM April 17th Carter Raymond Henry was born weighing 8 lbs 2 oz. Molly went into labor late Thursday night while I was on an overnight in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fortunately for me but not for her, babies don't seem to like to come out of her easy so I managed to fly back with plenty of time to spare for Carter to come into the world. He was a bit fussy eating for the first couple of days but is doing well now. Molly is also recovering at home and is feeling pretty good but still very swollen and hates our stairs. Unfortunately Caitlyn had a cold so we couldn't bring to the hospital while Molly and Carter were recovering but she was very excited to see them when they got home.
Rogers Canyon Hike
My friend Ryan and I disobeyed my wife (who was something like 10 months pregnant) and went hiking in a remote part of the superstitions in a place called Rogers Canyon that does not have cell phone coverage. It was a nice 9 mile hike round trip to an old native American cliff dwelling which was amazingly preserved for being 400 years old. Fortunately I did not miss the birth of my first born son so I will live to hike again.
Caitlyns 3rd Birthday
This year we celebrated Caitlyns third birthday at home with a few friends and lots of family. We had used her birthday as an excuse to buy a swing set for the backyard which she has been on pretty much everyday since she got it. She also got a bike. The bike has removable pedals so she can scoot on it to learn balance before riding. This sounded like a good idea, unfortunately she has enough sense to know it should have pedals on it and keeps asking for the pedals.

Peralta Trail
Last weekend my friend Ryan and I decided to take a hike up the Peralta Trail which overlooks Weavers Needle in the Superstition Mountains. We both took a lot of pictures. Ryan took a lot of good pictures of the Needle and I took a lot of pictures of Ryan taking good pictures of the Needle:)

Pony Riding
Today we went over to Mollys cousin Cheryls house to let Caitlyn ride her pony. Lately we have been going over there just about once a week to let Caitlyn ride and she loves it. I think the horses love it even more because when Caitlyn is not riding she is throwing hay at them faster than they can eat it.
Sedona Marathon
Last weekend my mom, Karen, Caitlyn and I headed up to Sedona so that Karen could run another marathon. I have now lost track of how many marathons she has run in which means that she is completely crazy. The next day we went up to Gerome which was a cool town. Caitlyn loved running up and down streets and taking stairs to random locations in the town. It snowed part of the time which Caitlyn really liked.

New Years at the Ranch
This New Years we got the opportunity to go up to some friends of ours ranch and stay for the weekend. It was a pretty laid back weekend which mainly involved exploring the area and shooting stuff. Unfortunately there was no snow at the ranch but we passed through some on the way up.
New York Trip
Last week I sorta lucked out and got a New York trip New Years Eve Eve. It was a grueling trip with a red eye flight into New York and then a early morning departure back home. But it was kind of neat to walk around and see everything all decorated for Christmas and New Years.
